CC was commissioned to build and assemble these 14 pieces designed by Amy Watson, there were over 500 small triangles CNC cut and assembled to create these pieces.
Composite Wing
Commissioned by Roland Snooks for the Fibreglass Fabrication.
This was a collaboration between Composites Constructions and RMIT to design and build this art piece for their industrial design exhibition at RMIT, and China expo.
The composite fibre installation compresses surface, structure and ornament into one intricate and irreducible assemblage.
The complexity of the project is made possible through the development of robotic fabrication techniques including the extrusion of the fine-scale surface articulation. The surface gains its strength through the location of the articulation that operate as structural beams within the surface. This strategy enables the surface to remain only a few millimetres thick while spanning and cantilevering considerable distances.
